1) Can we customize one of your plans or use our own plans?

We can certainly customize any of our plans to fit your family’s needs. In fact, Buckeye is one of the oldest custom home builders in the area. We have been custom building homes for our clients since 1994. We love hearing new ideas on how our plans can meet the needs of today’s families better.


2) How long will it take to build our house?

Construction for most of our homes is between 4 and 5 months.


3) What features are included in a standard home package? 

Some of our standard features include granite countertops in the kitchen, tile backsplash, stainless appliances, gas fireplace with custom built mantle, hardwood and tiled floors, high efficiency HVAC and an excellent insulation package. Exterior stone, 30 year shingle, upgraded garage door, 12x12 patio, final grade and hydro seed.


4) Will we get to choose our exterior and interior finishes, appliances, lighting, etc.? 

When you build with Buckeye you choose every feature that goes into your home. It becomes your own work of art!


5) When do we make these selections? 

The selection process is organized in a way that gives you plenty of time to make your decisions. You will work with our staff as well as some of our key vendors to choose what is just right for you. Before excavation we will meet with you and give you a schedule of the build as well as when and what selections are needed to complete your home in a timely fashion. In addition, our award winning software will allow you to keep track of your homes progress online throughout the entire building process.


6) Can we upgrade selections? 

You can choose from our outstanding standard features or upgrade any and all of them.


7) How do I finance my home? 

There are a few options on financing your home. We would like you to first meet with one of our partner banks for a pre-approval and then we can better discuss the option that is right for you.


8) Do I need to insure the home during the construction process? 

Depending on how the home is financed, you may be required to insure the home during the construction process.


9) Can you build on a lot I already own? 

Yes, Buckeye can build on one of our lots or on a lot that you own.


10) What kind of warranty do you offer? 

You will receive a 1 year Home Builder’s Association Warranty with the purchase of your new home. You will also receive all of the manufacturer’s warranties on the products that were installed in your home.


11) Do you build in the winter?

The answers is absolutely! Every season presents challenges. Spring brings rain, summer brings humidity, fall brings everything. There are times in winter that some facets of construction must stop. For instance, last winter, with sub zero temperatures, it made it impossible to pour basement walls and footers for a few weeks. We were able to continue on all interior work. Most winters it is business as usual. When temperatures get into single digits or lower, it is not conducive to do some of the outside work. We do add chemicals to the concrete to allow the concrete to cure without freezing in our walls and footers. Sidewalks, driveways and landscaping are delayed until the spring. Framing, siding and shingles can all be installed in low temperatures. We have experienced the last 20 winters building homes, none as difficult as last year, and we still constructed several homes last winter. All this being said, no matter what the season, we watch the weather daily to adjust our schedule and products to insure safety for our subcontractors and quality for our customers.
